Anthony Daniels, the legendary actor behind Star Wars’ beloved protocol droid C-3PO, has appeared in every theatrical film in the franchise. But when it comes to his favorite movie to film, his choice may surprise fans.

Speaking at FanX Salt Lake Pop Culture & Comic Convention, Daniels reflected on his decades-long journey with Star Wars, revealing that while A New Hope remains his favorite story, The Rise of Skywalker was the most enjoyable to make.

“My favorite was actually Episode IV, the very first film,” Daniels shared. “The reason for that is it was a very simple story. You had Luke, who was the hero who comes from nothing, and he meets people on the way, the classic journey. And then you have a bad person called Darth Vader—at that time we don’t know that it’s his daddy. And so, I understood it.”

However, when it came to the most fun on set, Daniels singled out The Rise of Skywalker. “I had such fun with the new cast, particularly Oscar Isaac. Truly one of the best actors to be in a Star Wars movie. And he had such a bad relationship with Threepio that he persecuted him on an hourly basis—worse than Han Solo! I was just giggling inside the costume.”

While The Rise of Skywalker remains divisive among fans, it’s clear that for Daniels, it provided unforgettable memories.
