Mikey Madison Turns Down Role in Shawn Levy’s Upcoming Star Wars Film

Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison has officially passed on a role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film, Variety confirmed on April 16. Madison had reportedly been offered a supporting role in the film, which is said to star Ryan Gosling and take place five to six years after The Rise of Skywalker. No further details were given about why Madison declined the offer, but the news arrives just ahead of Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where updates about the film are expected.

According to entertainment insider Jeff Sneider, Madison was in talks to play a key female character opposite Gosling in a story centered on a 15-year-old boy. Additional roles include the boy’s mother and two villains. While Madison’s addition would have brought serious awards prestige following her Best Actress win for Anora, it seems she won’t be joining the galaxy far, far away—at least for now.

Rumors continue to swirl around Levy’s mysterious project. Gosling’s involvement has not yet been officially confirmed, but speculation is mounting that he’ll appear during The Mandalorian & Grogu panel at Celebration to make the announcement.

Levy’s film could mark a major moment for the franchise, as Lucasfilm has yet to release a Star Wars movie since the pandemic. With The Mandalorian & Grogu set to hit theaters May 22, 2026, all eyes are on what’s next—and who else might join the cast.
