Lucasfilm has officially announced Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, a new animated anthology series set to debut on Disney+ on May 4, 2025. The series will focus on two fan-favorite characters: bounty hunters Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane.

A newly released trailer showcases Ventress wielding her yellow lightsaber—first seen in The Bad Batch Season 3—while protecting a young Padawan in hiding after Order 66. Meanwhile, Cad Bane is drawn into a high-stakes duel with a former ally turned lawman, hinting at an intense character-driven narrative.
Returning voice actors include Nika Futterman as Ventress and Corey Burton as Bane, alongside Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez. The show is expected to follow the episodic structure of Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, which explored key moments in the lives of individual characters through a series of shorts.
Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind The Clone Wars and Ahsoka, serves as the series’ creator and supervising director, with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck as executive producers. Josh Rimes, Alex Spotswood, and Matt Michnovetz round out the production team.
With Tales of the Underworld, Lucasfilm continues to expand the Star Wars mythos, exploring the galaxy’s criminal underbelly and the fate of warriors caught between the light and dark. Fans can catch the series exclusively on Disney+ starting May 4.
