Filmmaker Steven Knight, known for Peaky Blinders and Locke, recently shared his experience working on the upcoming Star Wars film, New Jedi Order, during an exclusive interview with The Playlist. Knight, who had been brought in to help rewrite the script for the project under director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, praised Lucasfilm and its president, Kathleen Kennedy.

Though Knight’s involvement with the project ended earlier this year as he focused on his Peaky Blinders film, he described his time working on the Star Wars universe as a thrilling experience. "Kathleen Kennedy is a pleasure to work with," Knight said, calling Lucasfilm "smart people who know their craft." He also acknowledged the intense fan pressure surrounding the franchise, likening the experience to "stepping into a hurricane" but emphasizing how he used that energy to fuel his creative contributions.

Knight reflected on the collaborative nature of Star Wars, describing it as a “cultural tradition” and stressing the importance of contributing without a sense of possessive ego. While the specific details of his contributions remain unclear, he expressed confidence that some of his work would appear in the film.

The film, part of the New Jedi Order saga, is expected to see the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker, though its production timeline remains uncertain. In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Mandalorian and Andor on Disney+ in the coming years.
