Actress Yasmine Al Massri has shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of her scrapped role in Skeleton Crew, where she was set to play Jod Na Nawood’s Jedi Master. Taking to Instagram, Al Massri posted photos of herself in costume and wielding a lightsaber on set, revealing the significance of the role despite its brevity. According to the actress, she was honored by the crew for portraying the first female Arab Jedi in Star Wars.

While Al Massri’s character didn’t make the final cut, her scenes would have explored Jod Na Nawood’s backstory. In the show’s final episode, “The Real Good Guys,” Jod (Jude Law) hints at his troubled past, sharing that his Master was killed when he was young, leaving him abandoned and starving. Showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that they initially planned flashbacks to expand on Jod’s history but decided to keep the story focused on the children’s perspective.

Ford explained, “The kids have never met someone as damaged as Jod, and we wanted to maintain their sense of mystery about him.” Watts added that Star Wars’ expansive universe offers limitless opportunities to revisit such characters in the future.

Al Massri, known for roles in Quantico and Castlevania, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, even if her character’s story remains untold—for now. As Skeleton Crew awaits audience reception, fans may yet hope to see this cut scene resurface in future installments.
